My Sister's wedding! - The Civil

So if you're following me on instagram and facebook, you will have seen that my sister got married a few weeks ago. I wanted to share the day with you as I was fortunate enough to do her makeup and help with some of the planning.

We had the Civil on a separate day so that we weren't cramming too much on the Indian wedding day and my sister wanted to be in her white dress longer than 2 hours.

The venue they chose was Painswick Rococo Garden in Cotswolds. They opted for an outdoor ceremony surrounded by greenery. Luckily there was no rain scheduled for the time of the ceremony, and even though it was overcast, the weather was perfect for the ceremony and photography too.

We had booked an AirBnb for both families for the night before so that we could get ready there and then leave for the venue which was a short 10 minute ride by car.

I had worked out a schedule for hair and makeup, as I was doing hair and makeup for my mum, my sister, the Bride and myself, and hair would be done by Arpita and Marlena. I had originally tried to book an artist for our makeup as I thought it would be a nice treat but finding an artist, getting deposit details was difficult as responses were slow so I thought it was better to wake up earlier and do it myself than book someone else.

Generally, I have a very natural but full coverage makeup style. As it was the civil ceremony, I used soft colours for all of us, keeping the eyes plain and lips nude. Obviously all products used were cruelty free and vegan on all of us. With all of my brides who are having the civil ceremony, I feel a soft, natural look works best. I keep the skin completely matte so that its longwearing, but add a glow to the skin. For Devika's makeup we went nude with a winged liner, and a soft peachy pinky lip. I don't think its worth experimenting on the day as you want to look to be timeless.

Devika wore a gorgeous dress from wed2b, jewellery from V By Laura Vann, Hair Flowers and Bouquet made by our mum, Blooms By Vanita. Our dresses were from ASOS to match Devika's theme. We also invested in human hair extensions from Clip Hair. I highly recommend this to all my brides, and glad I invested in them for my sisters wedding for the family. It makes a huge difference for hair down styles like I had on the civil day, however came in use for the wedding and reception too!

Devika and mum designed and made the Blooms for the wedding together. Devika wanted to pick up on the colours for Painswick Rococo Gardens with her bouquet and wanted to keep it bright and summery. The Blooms were ofcourse spritzed with Jo Malone as they Blooms are faux.

The civil ceremony was beautiful with Indy Sagoo, and Robert Kubicki documenting the day for us. Even though it was a small ceremony we wanted to best suppliers for photography and cinematography as they capture the memories for us to look back on. We are big on trying to be eco-friendly, and carried this through the wedding celebrations too. We opted for biodegradable flower confetti from Ebay to match the wedding colours, Paddy gave all the pizzas out on cardboard boxes, and we had coke in glass bottle with paper straws and kilner jars for extra drinks served in mason drinking jars.

Once the ceremony was over, the guests enjoyed the gardens, whilst Raj and Devika had their couple photoshoot. The original plan was to do this after lunch however we changed the plan around last minute as rain was scheduled for when the couple's photoshoot would be. Thankfully we did this as rain started exactly when the weather app had said it would.

Devika and Raj wanted something a little bit fun for lunch, so they opted for Paddy to make and supply pizza's for all the wedding guests. There were options for vegans, vegetarians and meat eaters too. The pizza's were stonebaked there and then and so yummy!

We wanted to keep costs minimal for this, so as a family we did the coordination for the day, and decor. We love holding events and love a celebration too so it was quite easy for us.

It was such a beautiful day and grateful to our suppliers and the guests for making Devika and Raj's dream come true.
